Network Cabling
Cabling - Voice and Data
A majority of businesses require a local area network (LAN) specific for voice and data connection, with Cat 5e or Cat 6 cabling infrastructure. However, others might require their LAN networks to remotely connect to other sites (i.e. homeworkers / regional offices / international offices) in order to support a wider area network (WAN). Business Communications bring over 33 years of experience and highly skilled team of engineers to assist you in the planning, designing and installation of these networks.
Office Relocation
Whether relocating to new premises which has an existing network or simply want points relocating to compliment your seating plan, we can provide an assessment of the existing network capability for voice and data. If old cabling need replacing, our team will work with you to accomplish this.
Alternatively, if you are moving to new premises – refurbished or new build, and require a new network which includes Cat5e / Cat6a cabling, data cabinets, patch panels etc, Business Comms engineers can advise you from technical drawing plans and/or discuss your requirements in detail on site.
Existing Network Expansion
Our team can help when expanding your existing network whether due to staff recruitment or require additional equipment, and also if you want to relocate your existing cabling to match new office seating plans.
Portable Site Office Installation
Business Comms deal with a number of national and international construction companies on Green Field sites, assisting in the setting up the portable site offices to allow the contractor to commence their building project as planned.
Cabling is carried out on single and multi-stacked cabins and open plan cabins. Our specialist engineers understand the needs, constraints and flexibility experienced in this environment.
We are able to integrate the main contractor’s network with any subcontractors’ for your voice and data connections. Also, works can be carried out of business hours in order to minimise disruption to your business operations.
Fibre Optic
Fibre-optic enable communication transmission over vast distances and at higher bandwidths (data rates i.e. 10gb/sec) than traditional copper wire cables.
Fibre-optic Cables Come in Two Types:
Single-mode cable – this is so narrow that light can travel through it only in a single path. This type of cable can prove to be extremely expensive.
Multi-mode cable has a wider core diameter to allow light beams the autonomy to travel different paths.
The Advantages of Fibre Optics:
The cables don’t interfere with other devices so you will get very little interference from EMF devices
Fibre optics is faster than a majority of other transmission mediums and can send signals at more than 10 GB per second.
The signal has a constrained loss rate, which means that very little signal is lost over long distances

Copper
The communications industry has used copper cabling for over 100 years, and it is still in use in many networks today. Even though there have been several advances in network technology in recent years, with the popularity of fibre optic- and wireless networks, copper cables are still leading in most networks because they are affordable, fast and reliable.
We think that it is important that your business chooses the right kind of copper cabling suitable for your network needs.
Even though fibre-optic technology provides even greater bandwidths, this is not necessarily suitable for some companies as their business applications does not a need for the extra bandwidth that fibre-optic provides. Copper cabling is fast, reliable and affordable and is also easy to maintain.
We would be happy to discuss your needs and explain your options as there are several different kinds of copper network cabling, most notably are:
Cat 5e, the most common form of network cable, commonly used in offices and home for Ethernet network. This type of cable has a bandwidth of 100MHz, which is enough for mainly everyday use.
Cat 6 cables then replaced Cat 5e with a higher bandwidth of 250MHz giving better characteristics for PoE, Power over Ethernet.
They are popular for durability and handling higher-end applications such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
Cat 7 cables are the most expensive types of cables which offer the fastest speeds and a bandwidth of up to 1000MHz.
